The most sustainable garment is the one you already own. A few quiet habits keep your favourites looking like themselves, season after season.

Wash less, air more

Most pieces do not need a wash after every wear. Hang knits and jackets in the open air overnight; spot-clean small marks; save the machine for when it is genuinely needed. Cold water and a gentle cycle are kinder to everything.

Fold the knits, hang the tailoring

Hangers stretch shoulders on soft knits — fold them instead, and give each one breathing room. Jackets and coats prefer a wide hanger that supports the shoulder line.

Repair early, repair happily

A loose button or a small pull is a five-minute fix today and a lost piece next year. Keep a little kit with matching thread, and treat mending as part of owning something worth keeping.
